Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update

From the Office of the Principal:

Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS;

The home stretch has arrived. We still have so much to accomplish and so little time to make it all happen. All activities are important in the life of our school and the development of our students. Academics, of course, are critical. Our formation also includes the heart and soul: developing virtues, perseverance, inner strength, and relationships. We also guide and foster seen and unseen beliefs, connection with God, faith practices, religious traditions, and many efforts that develop each person in their faith life.

So, with all of this in mind, all things are good!  Sitting at desks learning, taking tests, participating in field day, going on field trips, doing STEM projects in teams, enjoying our family group time, in addition to joining together for our fun programs, special guest days, concerts, and prayer opportunities, laughing with friends at lunch, and playing at recess in the sunshine. Every aspect of our school life has value and is important to foster the total growth of our children.

Kim Doyle, Principal

Psalm 86:11
Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart so that I may honor you.

Each test is approximately 20 to 45 minutes.  Please encourage your child to do their best and take their time.

Parking Lot Reminders for Pick up and Drop off.

1. If your child is slower getting in or out of the car, please do not go to the pick-up line. Park in the lot and have them cross with the teacher patrol. This includes kids who do not come out of school in the first heap!  Some kids dottle. – PLEASE PARK AND DON’T DELAY THE OTHER CARS IN LINE.

2. Kids need to get in and out of cars on the school side only. Your child’s safety is at risk if they do not.

3.  Wait for the car in front of you to exit – PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO BYPASS THE LINE BY PULLING OUT. There are many near-miss accidents.

4. Be patient and kind to the other parents. We are hearing of parents who are not kind in our parking lot. Why? And what does this say about parents in a Catholic school? And what does this show all children?

5. If the pick-up or drop-off line does work for you, it is a simple fix—just park in the lot. Our dismissal process takes no longer than 5-7 minutes. You can spare that time to keep everyone safe.

If all else fails and this process doesn’t work for you, contact KIm to arrange an alternative pick-up place.

Financial Assistance

If you applied for financial assistance through TADS, please know that families will be notified in early May from Kim.
Our school program is determined by the number of families who apply and the needs based on recommendations from TADS.  Financial assistance is awarded only if your family qualifies.

Some of you have qualified for the Aim Higher Scholarship. You should have received a letter from them recently.
This is different than our school financial assistance program.

Aim Higher Scholarships are actual money that comes from the Aim Higher Foundation to the school. SWS financial assistance is simply a discount to help you manage your financial commitment to the school.

Ron McBroom Project
“Spirit of St. Wenceslaus Award”

All funds designated for this project will go to make this happen.

Please share this with others who may want to gift the school at this time.

Peace of Mind School has been awarded to SWS

Beginning with the 2024-25 school year, our school will become one of the Peace of Mind Schools awards by CSCOE (Catholic School Center of Excellence).

This means that our teachers will be getting extensive training and continued coaching to deal with students who need SEL. SEL stands for “Social Emotional Learning”.  Our teachers will be attending special workshops over the summer to help them learn skills and techniques.

In the fall, we will be assigned a counselor who will guide and coach the teachers regularly. This is a huge gift to the school that is funded by CSCOE. We are lucky to have been chosen to become a Peace of Mind School.

Calendar for next year
Please try to avoid too much time away from school for your children.

Family vacations are amazing, and everyone deserves to relax and refresh.  Please look very closely at the calendar for the next school year as you are planning.  Time away from school is not necessarily relaxing for many children, parents, or teachers.

We encourage you to have your children in school as much as possible. We have less than 1/2 the days in a full year to work with your kids. Please schedule as many breaks as possible during the planned school breaks so the children are in school when school is in session. We also understand that many times, dates cannot be adjusted due to your personal work schedule.

Also, mark all of our event dates now so that you can participate fully in the life of the school.
