The Spirit of St. Wenceslaus Award
St. Wenceslaus School has been blessed with many supporters and contributors who have helped the school achieve its mission of providing a high-quality academic program that builds leadership and self-confidence while nurturing a loving relationship with God and encouraging service to others.
The purpose of this award is to recognize those that have gone above and beyond in their unselfish service or contributions to the school.
To qualify for the Spirit of St. Wenceslaus Award nominees must:
- Have furthered the mission of St. Wenceslaus School through their service and contributions
- Be a role model for the students of St. Wenceslaus School
- Have actively and outwardly lived the values of the Catholic faith (not necessarily closed to our non-Catholic Christian families in the school – for example, actively participate in their denomination’s worship and community while at the same time supporting/participating in the mission of the school)
An awards committee will select a recipient of the award each year. The recipient will be honored at the Starry Night Gala and during a school mass.
As part of the award, the recipient will get to designate the purpose of the Spirit of St. Wenceslaus Award fund for the year. This fund will be $500 from the school as well as any contributions that are received during the year in honor of the recipient. The recipient can designate the fund towards the following categories (*subject to change at the discretion of the principal)
- Tuition Assistance
- Technology
- Wenceslaus Endowment Fund
- Staff Development
- Other projects benefitting the school

2025 Recipient
Kathy McNamara
Kathy is our 2nd Spirit of St. Wenceslaus Award recipient.
Kathy started as a teacher at St. Wenceslaus School in 1978 and continues to help in the STEM lab. She was a favorite teacher to many and students looked forward to her teaching them how to juggle & the after-school softball program she coordinated.
In addition to her contributions inside the school, she plays a HUGE part in keeping the campus beautiful through her work with the Green Team and spends time getting the students involved in planting and maintenance.
Kathy has been involved with organizing the Adopt-A-Family program for many years, making sure families in need can have a nice Christmas and giving many of our classes opportunities to adopt a family to help during the holidays.
Kathy has left a positive lasting impression on a countless number of students that she has taught over the years at St. Wenceslaus. Through her service to the school and the church she shows our students what it looks like to be a caretaker of God’s earth and his people.

Ron McBroom
The 1st Spirit of St. Wenceslaus Award recipient: Mr. Ron McBroom
Ron has been active in the parish since 1971 and in the St. Wenceslaus School community since 1975. He is a long-time supporter of the school and has been a champion of the annual Marathon for non-public education, consistently raising more than $10,000. In addition to the financial support, Ron outwardly demonstrates the values of the Catholic faith to the community and is a true role model for our students.
Ron’s goal is to raise $15,000 – $20,000 to use for New Religion curriculum and supplies.
