Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update

From the Office of the Principal:

Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS;

Invitations are in the mail for everyone to attend the Starry Night this year. If you did not get one for some reason, please know that all school families and all parish members are on our mailing list for this event. We provide a website to register as well as a paper invitation.

The Starry Night is an evening for adults in our community to come together in support of the school. We host a social hour, a fabulous dinner, a silent auction, a live auction, and a fund-a-need. Guests are of all ages. This is a seated event, so you can come with friends or come alone, and we will sit you with people of a similar age. We hope you can attend and maybe even bring family, neighbors, and friends with you.

Watch for news to come about our new “Spirit of St. Wenceslaus” award that will be presented to a deserving person who shows a fantastic spirit for our school.

Kim Doyle, Principal

Psalm 86:11
Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart so that I may honor you.

When calling in an illness for your child
Please give specifics about the illness when you call or email in for your child’s absence. We are required to report flu and flu-like symptoms to the State.

There are many different illnesses going around at this point, so please be mindful. We have had many children out ill recently.

Starry Night Invitations are in the mail
Watch for yours to arrive, or go to our website to RSVP.

This event is for you! This event is critical for the school.

Starry Night Donations and Reservation website

We are looking for sponsors, table purchasers, item donors, cash donors, and lots and lots of guests!

Plan to attend with friends, neighbors, relatives, or alone.

Due now for our Starry Night

1.  Donate $5-$10 per child. Your child’s teacher will then take the money and purchase an item or multiple items for our silent auction.

2. Cocktail Basket Items:
Anything is welcome but click here to see what we still need for some of the baskets that we are building.

3. Bottles of wine
We need lots and lots of wine for our wine pull. Consider buying a case of wine as your donation.

4. Do you have unused gift cards that have not expired sitting in your purse? How about donating them to us for the Starry Night games?

Kindergarten Registration for Fall 2024 Class

Kindergarten registration is now open for classes starting in fall 2024.

We will have a fun night for all registered kindergarten potentials and parents on Tuesday, February  13.  Mark your calendar for one of our favorite evenings for all parents, kids, and teachers. 6:00 PM.

Valentine’s Day will be celebrated on Feb 13 – NOT Feb. 14

Due to Ash Wednesday being on Valentine’s Day, we will not be celebrating this day. Ash Wednesday is a day for fasting and abstinence.

SWS will hold our Valentine’s Day one day earlier on the 13th.

No uniforms on this day – Red, White, and Pink clothing.  Students may also celebrate Mardi Gras with Green and Purple clothing.

A treat from our School Parent Association will be shared on this day.

Wonka Bars for Sale
Beginning on Monday, the 7th and 8th grades will be selling Wonka Bars in anticipation of their upcoming school musical, Willy Wonka Jr.

Candy bars will be sold for $1 from 7:20 – 7:35 each morning until they are sold out.

Some bars contain “A Golden Ticket” and can be used for an out-of-uniform pass, an an extra day pass, or for one ticket to the upcoming play.

Fish Fry – February 16

Every family was given ten tickets to sell or purchase. There will be lunch and dinner options. Students can use a ticket to have the fish instead of the school lunch on this day. The evening dinner is a joyful celebration of our school and community. SWS normally serves around 1400 guests for lunch and dinner on our Fish Fry day.

This a required event. Volunteer opportunities to fulfill your two event requirements will be ample.

Here is the link to sign up to volunteer.

Soup Supper
The 30th Annual Soup Supper will be here at St. Wenceslaus Parish on Monday evening from 4-6:30 pm, February 19.

This fundraiser will go to support Sharing and Caring Hands in Minneapolis. The meal again will consist of three different soups: chicken noodle, vegetable beef, and chili. The meal will be served in the church dining room, and takeouts will also be available from the church dining room.

We hope you consider supporting this important outreach ministry by attending. FCSLA Life is again offering a $600 matching grant in support of our efforts.

Questions or comments please call Norb Sticha 952.758.3888.

Catholic Schools Week
Thanks for a great celebration of our Catholic School. It was a fun week for all.

Fathe Miller Time and Howdy Doody
Fr. Miller from St. Patrick’s Church happened to be roaming around our church when the kindergarten kids were practicing.

He asked them to sing the theme song from the old “Howdy Doody” show.  He recorded their voices.

Fr. Miller has a radio show at KCHK on Sunday nights from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. It is called “Fr. Miller Time.”  He is going to use our kid’s voices as part of his radio show.

Just in case you want to listen in on the show!
