Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update
From the Office of Principal:
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS;
We are anticipating the Advent season in school. Although still two weeks away, we have been making plans to decorate, to have our special prayer services around our Advent wreaths, to participate in a reconciliation morning, and setting themes for entire school and individual classroom instruction of the coming of Christ. This is such a meaningful, rich time of the year in a Catholic school and one that makes us stand out as absolutely special. And of course, the students love the Advent season more than any other!
I often tell the children and teachers how unique it is for us to balance our academic time with activities that build virtue, character, and morals. Our time learning our faith during instruction, practicing our traditions, serving our community, and allotting time for prayer and meditation are the key ingredients of our strong Catholic school education.

Give to the Max Day
November 17, 2022
Our goal is to collect $20,000 to help with our tuition assistance program. Our view is to provide a Catholic education to every child whose family seeks our faith-based environment. We know that many families cannot afford the full tuition rate. Families have the opportunity to apply for assistance. If they qualify with financial need, a small amount of assistance helps a family manage, and their children benefit from enrollment in our Catholic school.
Congratulations Mrs. Hathaway!
We wish blessings on our kindergarten teacher, Ms. Schneider. She was married on Saturday to Alex Hathaway. Congratulations to the two, for a long and happy life together.
Watch for tickets to come home in backpacks on Tuesday, November 15!
You will receive an envelope with tickets for our sweepstakes and our Pot-o-Gold.
The Sweepstakes is required and you will get $300 worth ($100 for preschool) of tickets to sell. We are giving these to you early so that you have plenty of time before the drawing which takes place on February 1.
Pot-o-Gold is a raffle for our $20,000 prize. This year each family will get one ticket to buy or sell. Drawing is in June.
We have 650 to sell in total. We need people to try selling more to meet our goal. Call or stop in at the school office.
Food Drive Collection – November 16 at Mass
We are collecting food for the local food shelf. Each student is asked to bring some items to our school Mass on November 16.
After Mass we will carry it to the food shelf – have your child’s donation placed in a plastic grocery bag for easier carrying.
For PreK Families – only
PreK MWF and M-F kids:
Dinner is on us on Thursday, November 17.
One of our school teachers will be delivering a pizza, a packet, and a prize to your home.

PARENT SESSION with Dr. Julene Nolan
“Technology and Social Media”
November 16 at 7 p.m.
The use of social media and technology is one of the most popular areas of concern for parents of children and adolescents. How much is too much? How do we keep our kids safe online? What about the constant social comparisons? This session will focus on the latest research on use of social media and technology. It will also help us understand the relationship between brain development and what drives the need to feel connected online as well as those areas of big concern like pornography and algorithms that target adolescent vulnerabilities. Parenting tips will be offered.

From the School Advisory Council
We know that families are busy and sometimes it helps to have new ideas to incorporate more of the faith into your family life.
For the Love of Family
This week’s challenge:
Begin your day with thanks and praise. Start your day, before you open your eyes or roll out of bed, with a few thoughts of how grateful you are for the opportunity to try your best another day. Thank God for your abundant blessings, thinking of one or two things that will make you smile. Do this before any anxiousness of a to-do list or heaviness creeps into your mind. Try this for a bright start to your day and encourage others in your family to do the same!
Looking Ahead for Club House in December
Club House will be open for only 3 days during our Christmas Break. These days are Dec. 27, 28, and 29.
