Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update
From the Office of Principal:
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS;
We had an amazing first week of school. It was so great to see the students back in their classrooms and the teachers doing what they do best. Order and routine were evident as everyone learned the directives of the new year. The atmosphere in the school is joyful and happy as we all are glad to be back in school.
Please continue to pray each day for the school, the staff, and especially the students.

Marathon Donation Link
This is an easy way to collect donations for your childl
Send out the link to family and friends and the money will start to come in.
Donors fill out the form and will be asked before logging out which child to apply their donation to for the marathon goals. Your child will get the credit towards their goal amount.
Final Call for the free/reduced lunch application if you finacially meet the qualifications.
All lunch is free this year due to a grant from the USDA. We still need as many of the forms filled out as possible to get other financial supports.

Our school literally received thousands of dollars last year because of these forms.
We’re Back: Now What?
Join Dr. Julene Nolan – free webinar sessions each month exclusive for Catholic school parents.
When: Sep 22, 2021 07:00 PM
Parenting during the pandemic, conflict in our communities, going back to school, and the uncertainty that has plagued us over the last 18 months have made our jobs as parents even more difficult. Many of us are worried about how to move forward as we once again enter a school year that will likely be influenced by the pandemic. In this session we will bring it back to the basics of sound, practical parenting. What to attend to, what to let slide, how to protect our child’s mental health without “snowplowing” away the experiences they need to become strong and resilient.
Late Start Days – School will start at 9:00 AM on these days so that teachers can meet/plan. (This is district-wide)
Buses will pick up at your home 90 minutes later than usual. Cars can begin dropping kids off at 8:45 AM. Plan ahead!
Club House is open for our regular Club House participants from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM. Click to sign up.
These late starts do not affect the preschool in anyway. Preschool schedules are normal wth extended care starting at 7:00 AM and class starting at 9:00 AM,

Wanted: Person with a truck to pull trailer
We need a new parent or two to commit to driving the empty pop cans to Mankato Recycling Center. This takes place once each month or two.
Clarence and Joannie Tupy have been doing this task for many years and want to pass on the information for the next generation to collect and recycle the cans. A very special thanks to Clarence and Joannie !
Our school has a pop can recycling trailer in the back parking lot. We make money for the school with the project and it is also good for the environment.
Wanted: Fleece cutting Moms or Dads!
The school was given a room full of fleece as a donation. We want to turn this fleece into blankets to give to the elderly and poor this winter.
KIm is organizing parent’s who are able to spend time cutting fleece so the children can tie it. We want each child to make a blanket so we will be cutting 200 plus fleece blankets getting them ready for the next step.
Ideally parents can work in pairs or teams to lay out the fleece and cut it. You can choose the best time to work each week – but we know that on Friday AM the gym will be open and we can set up working tables.
Contact Kim if you are able to cut fleece. State the best time or day for you to come in and she will set up teams of fleeece cutters! All you need to bring is a sharp sissors to cut fabric.
We are excited to be able to offer free lunch again this year to all of our students.
Students choose the following each day:
1. Hot lunch with milk – Pre-8
2. Chef Salad with milk – Grade 4-8 only
3. MIlk only (to have with lunch brought from home) Pre -8
K- 8 bring a snack from home and can purchase a carton of milk or apple/orange juice ($.50)
Preschool snacks are provided
Don’t forget to also fill out the free/reduced form if you meet financial qualifications – even though lunch is free to all. Click here.
Plan to walk or ride along with our school float in the Dozinky parade on Saturday, September 18 at noon.
We need as many school people as possible from preschool – grade 8 and parents. We want to make a SPLASH in this community with our presence.
Everyone wear a bright red school t-shirt or uniform shirt!
Click here for a t-shirt order form
Donations of large bags of candy are welcome! Bring it to the parade. Every person also needs a bucket for candy distributing.
Most students and parents will walk. Little ones can ride. Strollers are welcome.
We need as many parents as possible.
We need a few great dads to carry our banner. (Red Shirts)
School Mass – Most Wednesday’s at 8:00 AM
We welcome all school parents to join us for our weekly liturgical celebrations. Students will sit with their classmates and teachers. Parents are welcome to take a spot behind the students towards the back of the church.
Please do not sit up front or intermix with the students – even if your child is doing a reading or singing. The classes have assigned spots.
Catholics that have previously received communion in the celebration/sacrament of First Communion can receive Holy Communion during the Mass.
All younger students and anyone non-Catholic is welcome to approach the front at the distribution of Communion and receive a blessing – To do this, place your arms in a cross on your chest. This will indicate to the minister that you will get a blessing.
Mass in September:
Wednesday’s – 8th,15th, 22nd
Tuesday, Sept. 28 – Feast of St. Wenceslaus
This year St. Wenceslaus School staff members are excited to incorporate the example of seven saints into the ways we interact with students, parents, and each other – through Saintly Service: Wisdom for Growing Catholic Community. This is philosophy that our school already embraces, but one that we want to be especially intentional about welcoming and embracing others. We are looking for a great year of building community!
Thanks to the Catholic School Center of Excellence, we’re uniting with other Catholic schools and putting words and faces to our traditions and practices by using the following saints and their charisms as guiding examples in our relationship-building:
St. Benedict – Offer incredible hospitality
St. Teresa of Calcutta – Be assertively friendly
St. Ignatius – Assume positive intent
St. Therese of Lisieux – Pay attention to the little things
St. John XXIII – Foster a culture of joy
St. Joan of Arc – Take action and initiative
St. Francis – Be the change you wish to see
