Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update
From the Office of Principal:
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS;
We need to focus on our school marathon in the next few weeks. SWS has many fundraisers but the three that require financial commitment from our school families are marathon, sweepstakes, and fish fry. All of our other fundraisers are important as well to meet the budget such as the Starry Night Gala, golf tournament, and pot-o-gold. Our school thrives by collection of tuition, fundraising income, and donations. The marathon needs to collect $48,000. To date we have collected almost $21,555.
I ask everyone to put their best foot forward in this collection for the next two weeks so that we can make our goal. Most people will donate to the marathon when asked since it is a familiar collection for private schools through the country. The online link helps to send it out to your family, friends and coworkers. We have 2 more weeks! Wildcat Power is needed.

We’re Back: Now What? – This week!
Sep 22, 2021 07:00 PM
Join Dr. Julene Nolan – free webinar sessions each month exclusive for Catholic school parents.
Parenting during the pandemic, conflict in our communities, going back to school, and the uncertainty that has plagued us over the last 18 months have made our jobs as parents even more difficult. Many of us are worried about how to move forward as we once again enter a school year that will likely be influenced by the pandemic. In this session we will bring it back to the basics of sound, practical parenting. What to attend to, what to let slide, how to protect our child’s mental health without “snowplowing” away the experiences they need to become strong and resilient.

Wildcat Power!
The symbol of the wildcat is a cute way to talk about our school. We are not changing our mascot . We are still the St. Wenceslaus Saints. We will have fun wildcat activities this year. Maybe next year we will be the woodpeckers or skunks?
New Prague Trojan Homecoming!
We celebrate homecoming week with the New Prague Trojans this week.
Friday all students can wear Trojan gear or Red/Black clothing. We will also go out to watch the Homecoming Parade at 1:00 PM.
Marathon is a big deal at our school so we will wear our marathon shirts on Thursday instead.
We are excited that 6 out of 12 homecoming royalty are graduates of SWS – 4 boys and 2 girls. (Evan Anderson, Luke Shepard, Aidan King, Nick Geis, Emma Gullickson, and Lindsey Simon)
Best of Luck to the Trojans.
New Prague Trojan Hall of Fame
Congratualtions to all of the Trojans who will be inducted to the Hall of Fame at 6:30 on Thursday evening. Of the ten individuals who are receiving this honor, six of them are SWS graduates.

Dozinky Parade Thank You
Thanks to so many school parents and kids who participated in the the parade on Saturday. We really appreciate your involvement, especially in showing your support in such a public way!
Thanks to those who donated candy. The kids once again “generously” tossed it out to the crowd.
A huge thanks to George Tupy for the donation of the float and tractor and for driving us through the parade. George graduated from SWS many years ago! We love our Alumni.
Thanks to our School Advisory Council for helping to organize.
Feast of St. Wenceslaus – Tuesday, September 28
Celebrate our Patron Saint
School Mass 8:00 AM (Gr. 5 plans)
Adoration in the morning in church – open to all.
Fr. Eugene will do a procession with the Blessed Sacrament around the campus at Noon – Blessing north, south, east and west sides of the campus.
Lunch application form
If you meet this financial qualification – then PLEASE fill out this form.
All lunch is free this year due to a grant from the USDA. We still need as many of the forms filled out as possible to get other financial supports.
Masks on busses – this is a federal regulation
If your student rides the bus – please send a mask or have them keep one in their backpack. We are giving too many masks out each day for bus riders!
Also we notice the minute 99% of the kids sit down on the bus they remove their mask. We have no control over this behavior as we see the bus drive away so we ask you to please talk to your own child about this expectation.
Birthday treats
Birthday treats must be individually sealed and each individually sealed item is further sealed inside of a larger box or bag. – Example box of fruit snacks that is sealed and inside the box are 12 sealed packets. This is so teachers can easily handle treats and serve with sanitized hands. Students may not distribute snacks.
No boxes of bakery donuts, cookies, or cupcakes, please.
What is the difference for instruction and homework?
Covid illness or forced quarantine: The school will follow one of the plans outlined in our safety plan for instructions and homework.
Child ill with other aliment: Homework given upon return to school due one day late for each day ill.
Vacation: No work given ahead of time unless the teacher initiates. Work is given upon return and due one day for each school day gone, no distance learning provided. Parents – please do not ask or expect a teacher to provide work to your child for vacation periods. This is excessive work for the teacher in most cases.
SWS Parent Association
All parents are welcome to be a part of the School Parent Association!
We meet monthly. This is a great way to meet new people and to become an involved member of our school community. We would LOVE to have you join us.
The next meeting in on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 6:00 PM.

Wanted: Fleece cutting Moms or Dads!
The school was given a room full of fleece as a donation. We want to turn this fleece into blankets to give to the elderly and poor this winter.
Kim is organizing parents who are able to spend time cutting fleece so the children can tie it. We want each child to make a blanket so we will be cutting 200 plus fleece blankets getting them ready for the next step.
Ideally parents can work in pairs or teams to lay out the fleece and cut it. You can choose the best time to work each week – but we know that on Friday AM the gym will be open and we can set up working tables.
Contact Kim if you are able to cut fleece. State the best time or day for you to come in and she will set up teams of fleeece cutters! All you need to bring is a sharp sissors to cut fabric.

Saintly Service
This year St. Wenceslaus School staff members are excited to incorporate the example of seven saints into the ways we interact with students, parents, and each other – through Saintly Service: Wisdom for Growing Catholic Community. This is philosophy that our school already embraces, but one that we want to be especially intentional about welcoming and embracing others. We are looking for a great year of building community!
Thanks to the Catholic School Center of Excellence, we’re uniting with other Catholic schools and putting words and faces to our traditions and practices by using the following saints and their charisms as guiding examples in our relationship-building:
St. Benedict – Offer incredible hospitality
St. Teresa of Calcutta – Be assertively friendly
St. Ignatius – Assume positive intent
St. Therese of Lisieux – Pay attention to the little things
St. John XXIII – Foster a culture of joy
St. Joan of Arc – Take action and initiative
St. Francis – Be the change you wish to see
