Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update

From the office of principal:

Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS,

Praise God! We had a beautiful day for our marathon. Thanks to each family who came out to walk with us and enjoy a bit of school comradery. Check out highlights from the event here

Our school community is so important because we are a faith community where our children are raised together to know that God is central to our lives. We pray, we play, and we work together. By doing this, all children learn that God is with us and they learn great social skills by observing their parents in action.

Thank you for being a part of our school.

Marathon Donation On line link will remain open!

Please share this information with friends and neighbors
2-3 year old event – free and open to the public.

New Winter coat collections
We are doing a NEW winter coat collection for “Coats for Kids” sponsored by the State Knights of Columbus. These coats are distributed around the entire State of MN. Our teachers will deliver the coats when they attend the Catholic school conference on October 16.  Please send  new winter coats to your child’s classroom teacher or to the office before Oct.15.

October 16 is a special staff in-service day and we will NOT have school for preschool to grade 8 and there will be no Club House and no Preschool Extended Care.

Our staff will be going to the Minneapolis Convention Center for a conference with all other Catholic school teachers in our Archdiocese. That includes all staff members who teach 21,000 students making our Archdiocese the biggest district in the State with 79 different campus sites. It will be an amazing day for our staff.

We welcome Nancy (Skluzacek) Moulton as our newest SWS staff member.  She has accepted the position as the Marketing and Communications Coordinator. Nancy comes to us with a deep and diverse background in communications, marketing, and operations management.  After graduating from Minnesota State University-Moorhead, with a degree in Mass Communications-Journalism, she began her career as a News Director for radio.  Since then, she has worked with multiple companies on their marketing efforts, public relations and management. She describes herself as a “Jane-of-all trades” and has worn many hats within the businesses she has helped, including planning and executing employee and customer appreciation events.  She feels strongly about the mission of St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and loves to share her faith. Nancy grew up on a farm in New Prague and moved away after college.  She and her husband, Greg, recently moved back to New Prague when Greg took a new position.  She said it’s been a wonderful experience for her family to “come home”.  Nancy is an alumni of SWS, as is her father, and her 2 children currently attend our school.  She is excited about St. Wenceslaus Catholic School and wants to help it grow so her own grandchildren can attend someday.

Wanted: Parents to serve in various volunteer roles
Getting more involved as a parent has been proven to make a positive difference for children in school and in life. We are looking for a few parents who are willing to join our committees and take on a few roles to help some of our events happen smoothly.

Starry Night Event  – planning starts in October -need a few new people to take on small roles.
Fish Fry Dinner committee – need two new leads per year

Home and School Association – needs a few new people ASAP – our work is underway and we need help.

International Traveling Fatima Statue
Come for a short time or stay for a long time. Many people are signed up to be there by the hour because we do not want to leave the Blessed Sacrament alone, but we want you to fill the church. There are so many different opportunities to pray on this day. Come and go as you please.

All of the students in grades K-8 will have the opportunity to spend some time in prayer too. Students will attend a talk at 8:30 AM about the history of the statue and then will come back to the church later for private adoration.

The devotion time begins at 7:15 AM  on Friday with a procession into the church and the church is open throughout the entire night until after Mass on Saturday AM at 8:30.
Here is a link to the church bulletin with specific time of various forms of prayer going on.
