Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update

 From the office of principal:

Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS,

October is the Month of Mary, the Mother of Jesus. I am so glad that our students were able to participate in the Mass and adoration time in front of the Blessed Sacrament with the International Statue of Fatima. The statue is said to be the one image that most looks like the visions that were seen by the three little children in Fatima, specifically by Sister Lucia who lived well into an old age. The Blessed Virgin is important to us as a mother just as she was the Mother of Jesus.

I am so impressed with your children in how they pray with their hearts and souls when we have these special opportunities. They enjoy the many forms of prayer that we teach them and they often ask us for more. It is amazing to see them connect with God. Only in a Catholic school or other faith based schools will we see our youngest students freely enjoy and live their faith. Day by day they get closer to God. That is what sets us apart from other schools. Wow – Our beautiful Catholic School!

New Winter coat collections
We are doing a NEW winter coat collection for “Coats for Kids” sponsored by the State Knights of Columbus. These coats are distributed around the entire State of MN.

Our teachers will deliver the coats when they attend the Catholic school conference on October 16.  Please send  new winter coats to your child’s classroom teacher or to the office before Oct.15.

October 16 is a special staff in-service day and we will NOT have school for preschool to grade 8 and there will be no Club House and no Preschool Extended Care.

Our staff will be going to the Minneapolis Convention Center for a conference with all other Catholic school teachers in our Archdiocese. That includes all staff members who teach 21,000 students making our Archdiocese the biggest district in the State with 79 different campus sites. It will be an amazing day for our staff.

Wanted: Parents to serve in various volunteer roles
Getting more involved as a parent has been proven to make a positive difference for children in school and in life. We are looking for a few parents who are willing to join our committees and take on a few roles to help some of our events happen smoothly.

Starry Night Event  – planning starts in October -need a few new people to take on small roles.

Fish Fry Dinner committee – need two new leads per year.

Home and School Association – needs a few new people ASAP – our work is underway and we need help.

Altar Server Training – This is for all current and new servers!
All students in grades 5-12 will be trained or retrained to become Altar Servers for our parish Masses. this takes place on Saturday, October 12th and 12:00 noon. Meet in the church.

Sacristans meet at 9:30 and Communion Ministers join in at 10:00 AM – both days

Trunk or treat
This is a free, fun and safe event that brings Halloween to
our church parking lot.  There is no cost to enter but you must be prepared to hand out candy/prizes to trunk or treaters.  This event encourages families or groups to decorate their vehicles tailgate/trunk and handout goodies to the children who attend.

We’re in need of several more “trunks” to make this event a success. Set up starts at 2:45 PM.  Get your creative juices flowing and have fun!
