Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update

From the Office of Principal:

Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS,

We have some really great promotions taking place within the next few weeks. We need everyone to spread the word. For the first time ever, tuition might actually go DOWN – at least at the kindergarten level!  The formula is really very simple. More students in the school = greater opportunities for the tuition to decrease or stay at a steady level.

The school is working very hard at creating events to showcase our staff and our programs but there is nothing better than one parent talking to another.  SWS 8th grade graduates and parents of graduating 8th graders usually come back and say, ” Oooohhh that is what you were talking about. Now I get it!”

It is hard to really understand the full benefit that a Catholic school education actually develops within each child along the way from preschool through grade 8. When your child is in preschool or kindergarten, one school looks just as good as the next. We need to tell those who are deciding about a school for their child that this school is different. At this school your child will learn to love God. At this school your child will learn to understand the needs of the world and will develop a sense of compassion for others. At this school your child will learn to speak in front of large groups. At this school your child will learn to persevere through learning challenges. At this school your child will become confident and will be a capable learner with great study skills. And so much more!

If you “know” what SWS can do for your children and for your entire family, then share that knowledge so that a young family can learn to see that enrollment at St. Wenceslaus will be amazing for their children and family too.

Patriotic Rosary on Wednesday in Honor of Veterans Day
Everyone is welcome to join our staff and students in the church at 1:00 on Wednesday. Please make sure your child brings their Rosary to school with them. We will be saying a special Rosary for our country.

We encourage all K-8 students to keep a Rosary, Bible, and/or prayer books in their desks at all times. We pull them out often.

Preschool Parents
The Starry Night Event takes place on March 28.
This is a fun night for adults in our community with dinner, bidding, and lots of fun. We have a sponsor who would like to see more preschool parents at the event so we are giving away two couple tickets per month.

Bring a spouse or bring a friend. The tickets are worth $100 ($50 per person). Each month we will draw 2. The first ones for November were drawn at the dinner last week. Two couple tickets per month up until the event.

Winners can only give them to another Little Saints family if they are unable to use them to attend.

Food Drive
The annual food drive will take place the week before Thanksgiving. We want to fill the local food shelf. Purchase an extra bag of groceries and bring it to school by Nov. 20. We will have the children bring the food to the altar during the Kinder/1st grade Mass.

Sweepstakes Tickets
Did you find these tickets in your child’s backpack a few weeks ago? If not, then please search now! These tickets are for some great cash prizes. K-8 families have $300 worth to see and preschool families have $50 to sell. The sweepstakes is our 2nd major fundraiser of the school year. All ticket stubs will be due in the office by the end of January. We wanted your to have them in your hands now so that you can ask relatives during the holiday gatherings!

The Invention Convention

Grade 3-8 are required to design an invention.
Keep pictures of the invention process.
Record all trials and errors.
Keep an engineering notebook recording everything that is done.
Expect failures and then redesign and try again and again.

All inventions will be displayed on December 4

Winners will have an opportunity to take their  inventions to higher competition level at science and STEM fairs.

Transfer Grant is now available until November 30.

Pass this information onto any family who currently has children in the public school in grades K-8.

We received an opportunity for any family to transfer to our school. This is a one-time only grant.
