Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update

From the Office of Principal:

Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS,

Check out our new Distance Learning Page.  This will be handy one stop place for parents and students to check what is going on with each teacher. We have the daily assignments listed for the grade levels and there are also special lessons from our art and music teachers. There is a technology page with fun things to do. There will also be an occasional video from our principal. Other imprortant infomation can be accessed.

Go to the Main School Website page at www.swsaints.org. The Red button at the top says “Distance Learning” – Click  there!

Our Staff Reducation and Changes

Our school is experiencing a loss of funds that are normally given through the parish Sunday collections, school family hardships, and loss of other potential donations. It is important for all school families to continue to pay tuition and if you belong to our St. Wenceslaus Parish, to keep giving your Sunday financial offering. Although we did awesome with our recent fundraiser, this is not enough to completely support our total school expenses.

We have had to reduce our staff hours and lessen our staff salaries. All school and parish staff have been affected by this.  Mass is online, so we need our parish members to find ways to continue to make their weekly parish support contributions online or by mail.  Please read the parish bulletin next weekend for an update from Fr. Eugene.  He has been working with the Archdiocese to find the best ways to meet all of our financial needs.

Our School Advisory Council met with Father Eugene last night and they are also creatively committed to finding the best solutions in helping our school move forward.

If you are personally experiencing a financial hardship, please let us know so that we can help you through this time. For those who can, we ask for your continued financial support through donations. We can also all look forward to two more fundraising opportunities – our Golf Tournament (Hopefully in June) and our Pot of Gold Raffle.

Please email if you need more inforamtion about how all of this works. kim.doyle@swsaints.org

Spring Break
We will all have a spring break like none other. Our students and teachers will have been doing distance learning for more than 2 1/2 weeks. This break will NOT require anyone to do school work. All school staff and students will be off from Saturday, April 4 to Monday, April 13.  We will start our lessons again on Tuesday, April 14.

This will be a time to simply play and be with family which seems to be needed in this time of Covid-19 stress!

Yearbook orders are due- Deadline is April 2

$22 for a year book. You must order on line this year.

Starry Night Success
Our event on Saturday was a very big success.  We cannot thank each of you enough for the role that you played in helping the school. We thank each family for item contributions and class baskets. We thank the sponsors and the supporters.  We thank all who bid on the items and everyone who gave a cash donation.

We especially thank the volunteers of this event who worked tirelessly to make sure things looked good and were ready to be bid on.  We still have all of the back end paperwork to do to follow up so stay tuned if you are a winner for something.

Item pick up will take place as soon as the “stay at home” order is lifted and we can get into the school for distribution.

*****The winner of our Golden Ticket is Dave Skluzacek. His name was chosen out of a giant blue bucket that was placed on Fr. Eugene’s front step – to keep social distancing – and the pulling was video taped by Kim Doyle for verification that it was fair!

Automatic Re-enrollment
You will soon see an e-mail come to you to set up your tads account for the next school year. We would like to do this NOW because some people woould like to start to pay their tuition on the 12 month plan beginning in April.

You will receive a registration fee to your TADS account but it is now delayed again until July 1 (as recommended by the Archdiocese) – in order to support the financial needs of our school families.

Prayer Opportunities
The Pope Francis and Archbishop Hebda asked that we sit down each day and pray the Rosary at 3:00 PM.
Please join in the efforts. If not the Rosary or you are not Catholic, please choose another form of prayer and meditation.

Father Eugene is requesting that students watch school Mass on Wednesdays at 8:00 which will count as their religion assignment for the day.  It will be live-streamed on the parish website:  https://npcatholic.org/

The daily and Sunday Mass can also be viewed by this site. 8:00 am each weekday and 4:30 PM on Saturday and Sunday at 10:30 AM.

The Rosary will be said at 7:30 am live-streamed each day and 1/2 hour before weekend Mass.

The church will be open on weekdays from 12:00-4:00 for personal quiet prayer.

Confessions will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00 each weekday.

Go to the parish website at https://npcatholic.org/   to see all of the messages and opportunities for prayer.

Comcast is creating options for more wireless and data access for subscribers and non-subscribers, including free wifi hotspots nationwide for all and unlimited data for their subscribers. https://corporate.comcast.com/covid-19

The school office will be closed for the next few weeks.  If you need to contact us please send an e-mail. We will be holding office hours at home.
