School News – July Update 2019
Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update
From the Office of Principal
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS,
Wow! You would think that the summer months are slow and the school is empty but that is not the case at SWS. The school is buzzing with activity.
We have cleaned out a few scary closets and have rearranged a few new spaces. The staff has been in and out all summer with new ideas and new plans in mind for the upcoming year. They have been working in teams and alone to reorganize and clear the clutter for a new year to begin.
We have had a steady stream of qualified teachers applying for the open positions that we published. I am happy to report that all of the spots are filled and our new people are quickly becoming a part of our SWS family.
Be sure to attend some of our meet and greets that are planned for the individual classes where you can meet your child’s classroom teacher and connect with others from SWS. The start of the new school year will be here quickly so enjoy your summer days.
Meet our new staff members!
We are very excited to have the following people join us. Each of them brings a great set of skills to take our school in new directions while also maintaining the high quality that you expect.
Devin Doebesh – Preschool Teacher
Betty Jirak – Preschool Aide
Carly McDonald – 3rd Grade Teacher
Emiy Lehman – Club House Director
Kate Piquette – Art Teacher
You can meet all of them face to face at our “Back to School Open House” on Tuesday, August 20.
WEAR YOUR RED!
The parish festival is coming up on August 11. Please help us stand together and identify with our school by wearing your St. Wenceslaus RED t-shirts. It looks so awesome to see a sea of red t-shirts on this day especially those who are working at the event. All adults should have a SWS t-shirt that was given out last fall.
All new parents are welcome to stop by the office to pick up a free t-shirt. Yes preschool parents, that includes you too! Remember – it is free to any parent.
Students in grades 5-8 – wear your RED SERVICE SHIRT to the festival and get one service point out of the 15 you need for the upcoming school year. Work at the festival and get another point!
Preschool Expansion
Super news! We are expanding our preschool in many ways . Our program will now encompass the entire 1st floor hallway of the 1950’s building.
We are offering a full range of sessions to our families. We will be open from 7:00AM to 5:30PM everyday with half time, full time preschool plus extended care.
Our prekindergarten classes are full but we still have room on Tuesday/Thursday for 3/4 year old children. We will accept only 7 more students into these spots. Pass the word!
Soon we will also have a new fence around our playground to meet the standards of our expanded license.
Our Little Saints Preschool is fully licensed and approved by the State of Minnesota Department of Human Services. As a matter of fact we exceed the standards in many ways but one big way is with our super qualified and credentialed staff.
Beauty and the Beast performed by Generations Theater of New Prague
It plays for one more weekend and the reviews are amazing!
See Ms. Lisa Schneider in the part of Belle! She definitely is a beauty in the play and she is also our kindergarten teacher!
One of our Alumni, Andrew Schieber, plays the part of the beast. There are many more SWS alumni in the play. We like to think they got their start with us when they did their SWS junior high play.
Mrs. Katherine Gorr, our music teacher, is the musical director and Mrs. Sandy Gallagher, our band director, is on the keyboard while Gallagher Gorr plays his trombone in the orchestra. We also have other talented students from our school in the play: Elle Neiderhiser, Millie Moser, Gardner Gorr, Blakely Gregor and Gabe Pumper.
Don’t miss it!
