Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update

Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS,
Happy Catholic Schools Week to everyone who loves and supports our wonderful school. This week we celebrate our special mission as a Catholic school as we help our students develop their faith daily. The blend of faith and academics is a combination that brings success to the whole child making them confident learners and leaders who know and love God. We are very proud of our school and all that it has to offered students of the past, students in the future, and especially those in our school today with whom we celebrate this week.
Spirit Shirts for Sale
1. Get the Grey with red sleeves WS spirit shirt
2. or a red with “Property of St. Wenceslaus” on front.
$10 in the office – adult sizes available only
Special Guest Mass and Bingo
All students can bring any special guest (grandparent, aunt, uncle, neighbor, parent, over 18 sibling, friend of the family) to Mass on Wednesday, January 29 at 8:00 AM.
Guests can go directly to the church and the students will meet there after the “school attendance is taken”. Guests take a seat and the students will find guests at church.
Preschoolers can attend too but should come with their special guestto Mass at 8:00 or meet at 9:00 for bingo.
Everyone will go to the gym after Mass for Bingo and a treat.
Students without guests will join in Bingo with their teachers.

Preschool Registration for Fall 2020 is now in progress
Families who register by January 30 can use the $100 off coupon. We have a few more spots in our PreK sessions with a limit on 40 students. There is still plenty of availability for our 3/4 preschool session.
Summer 2020
Announcing!!!! – Opening a multi-age summer preschool program for students ages 3-5. Accepting current students as well as incoming 3-5 year old children. Enrollment is limited to 20 students for the summer. Please click to get the registration form for Summer 2020.
Sweepstakes Tickets
All ticket stubs will be due in the office by Tuesday, January 28.
K-8 families have $300 in tickets.
Preschool families have $50 in tickets.
Funds not returned to the office will be billed to tuition accounts, so it is in your best interest to take your chances on the cash winnings!
This is one of our 3 required fundraisers. (1–marathon pledges, 2-sweepstakes tickets, and 3-fish fry tickets)
Kindergarten Preview Night
This event is for those who have enrolled for 2020-21 and for any family who is considering our school for kindergarten.
February 11 at 6:00 PM
Check in by the Gym (park in the back lot)
The Starry Night in Italy – March 28.
Invitations are in the mail
This event is open to the public and is appropriate for all adult ages 21 and older. Guests ages 18-21 are welcome to attend with a responsible adult/parent.
Children under 18 are not included.

Help wanted:
Looking for workers for the night of the Starry Night event – March 28. If for some reason you cannot come as a guest, please think about coming as a worker.

Lots of volunteers will be used to help set up ahead of time – please watch for more news to come. Basket building, decorating, painting, table setting, building, etc..
Substitute Teacher Training Session
Training is offered for anyone who has a BA/BS degree in any area to substitute teach. The training takes place on February 3 and 4 in St. Paul. You must register ahead of time and attend two full days to obtain a certificate. Please contact Kim for details if interested.
Report Cards / NWEA Test Results / ACT Test Results
Watch the mail this week:
1. Reports cards K-8 (K-4 we use standards based rubrics to view growth of children – rubric will be sent in back pack)
2. Winter NWEA testing results K-8 – this is a midway point check to see how well studetns are progressing toward their growth goal.
3. ACT test results for Grade 8 only. (This test looks ahead to success in high school)
Fish Fry Tickets – will be coming home soon
All families will be getting tickets to buy, give away, or sell.
Volunteers will be needed. There is a signup link to volunteer on the letter for sign-up genius.

Aim Higher Tuition Grants are now open for K-8 families. The grant will close in February 18!
Once your child qualifies for this grant, they will get the grant every year until they graduate from grade 8 even if you transfer to another Catholic school.
To apply for this grant, you must apply for financial assistance with TADS. (This is a needs based grant. Do not be afraid to apply. The process is very confidential.)
The Schulze Early Learning Scholarship is now open for Fall 2020 school year!
For all preschool students going into the 4/5-year-old class – one year away from entering kindergarten.
You must be Middle income to apply!
