Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update

From the Office of the Principal:

Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS;

Next week is Holy Week. I am always touched with emotion during this time as we learn and listen to the Gospels that describe the journey of Christ from Palm Sunday through the Crucifixion leading to the Resurrection. The Stations of the Cross take us on that physical journey in today’s age.  I am especially touched seeing Jesus carry the heavy cross and relate it to the crosses that each of us carry in life. Great sadness fills me as I veiw the scourging and dehumanizing of Christ by the soldiers and wonder how often people of today dehumanize each other. I can barely imagine these scenes.

The advantage we have as we look to this story is to know the ending ahead of time. We learn the meaning of this terrible journey when we see the glory of the Resurrection. We praise God for allowing our lives to relish in the Easter miracle that brings us hope on earth and life forever.

Have a blessed next few weeks,

Kim Doyle
Principal

Join us for the Living Stations on Thursday
It is always a very powerful display of the Crucifixion when our 8th graders capture the scenes of the Stations of the Cross.  All are welcome to join us on Thursday in the church at 1:00.

Coin collection for Lent
Students are bringing coins to school and putting them in our Plinko Board.  All of the coins will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital after Easter.

Confession/Reconciliation
Students in grades 2-8 will participate in reconciliation on Thursday morning. They will have an opportunity to receive the sacrament by speaking to one of several priests who will join us.

Non-Catholic students can also meet with a priest for a few minutes to discuss their sins or troubles.  All they need to do is say, ” Father, I am not Catholic”  as they sit down with the priest.

Order a school yearbook before April 3 (due date)

Here is a link to order the yearbook. It features all students in preschool through grade 8.

Thank you so much!
The Starry Night was a huge success! Thank you to everyone for any and all areas that you helped with and for all that you may have donated. All of us working together has been a key to helping with our fundraisers this year.  These funds help meet our budget.

We also asked our guests and bidders to support our fund-a-need. We are so thankful to use these funds to enhance our school in so many ways each year.

Starry Night Financial Success!
We are still tallying numbers but we are sure that our event was a huge financial success. We are very excited about being able to look at a new audio visual system for our gym with the funds collected in our Fund-a-need drive.

For the Love of Family

This week’s challenge:

Pray now, pray with the thought at the moment it enters your mind. Don’t wait. When you tell someone you will pray for them, do it right then. Show someone you care deeply by offering a prayer for them and do it with urgency to make sure your prayer happens.
