Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update
From the Office of the Principal:
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS;
This month and next, we will focus on our school’s sustainability. Two facets of this are critical in keeping our school moving forward in a positive direction.
The first facet is vital to many parts of our growth and sustainability. That is enrollment. We need to keep our registration steady and pick up a few kids in some lower-number classrooms. This is a simple formula. Keep enrollment steady, and we can keep our outstanding teachers in place. That is a key ingredient here at SWS.
We had our preschool open house in January. The number of registered kids will determine how many sessions we will offer and what those sessions will be. This week is our kindergarten preview night. We want this to be a success, and we need everyone to reach out to people who may have yet to consider SWS for their families. Finally, we hope that our other grade-level families will see our school’s benefits and stay with us. There will be a March 1 deadline on all of these things, and then we will determine if we grow, stay the same, or need to pinch pennies for the next 2023-24 school year.
The second important piece to the school’s sustainability is that we host successful fundraisers. Nearly 20 % of the school’s budget is required for fundraising efforts. As the first two to meet budgetary requirements, we had a great marathon and successful sweepstakes. We have several coming up that need your help. The biggest one is the Starry Night, in which we hope to net more than $100,000. That money does not come pouring in without much hard work and generosity. Please help make this happen. The other required ones are the fish fry and the spring golf tournament. All of them are important. And people have told us that they have fun volunteering and participating in these.
Each child can experience God in our school and each other. Let’s not take that likely. So let’s all work together to give it our best response to keep our Catholic school mission and ministry the best it can be.

For the Love of Family
This week’s challenge:
Give each family member a bottle of water with the Scripture and questions attached. Tell families to refrigerate their water and drink a little each day, making it last a week. Ask them to read the verse each time they take a drink. Then during a meal, ask families to discuss these questions: What do you think the “living water” is? How is Jesus like or unlike the pure water in these bottles? Why is water so important to us? Why is Jesus so important to us? How can we use water to remind us of God?
PreK Early Learning Scholarship
The foundation is no longer accepting applications. They had so many families with PreK students apply from all over the Archdiocese. They will process only the ones that have already been sent.
