Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update
From the Office of the Principal:
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS;
This week we light the candle of peace on our Advent wreath. We call Him the Prince of Peace. The prophet, Isaiah, predicted the coming of a Messiah who would come to forgive our sins of the world. Through this peace, people would be drawn to a new kingdom setting aside their sinful ways.
“For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
Keep things in your life simple. Bring peace to life around you and all you meet this Advent season.
Peace,
Kim Doyle
Principal
Immaculate Conception on Thursday, December 8
We will not have school Mass this week on Wednesday but will have it on our Feast Day of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
This day we believe that the mother of Jesus was pure and sinless. We honor her as a mother who brought our Lord and Savior into the world. Because she is His mother, she becomes our mother too and we can look to her for guidance like we do our earthly mother.
Hail Mary, Full of Grace. The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Our School Nativity Manger Scene

Day by day, our students are adding one item at a time to create our Nativity Manger Scene. Students in each class worked in groups creating (STEM) each figure: the people, animals, stable, stars, etc…..
It is beautiful!
From the School Advisory Council
We know that families are busy and sometimes it helps to have new ideas to incorporate more of the faith into your family life.
For the Love of Family
This week’s challenge:
Create a routine of saying a short prayer each time you get in the car or drive to a specific place. Say a Hail Mary or a quick personal prayer so that your children become familiar with the words and can connect with God as they grow older.
St. Nicholas Day Cookies
FYI – our School Parents Association traditionally gives cookies to each classroom on St. Nick’s day!
At home – tradition is to put shoes outside the door and they get filled with treats during the night for kids to wake up to on Dec. 6. This is to recall the SAINT – who brought shoes and gifts to the poor. Look up more about the saint on the Internet.
Santa Secret Shop ——– THIS WEEK!
This is a special shopping time for the students. We will be setting up a gift shop. Kids can purchase gifts for their family members and get the gifts wrapped and labeled to go under your Christmas tree.
This will take place on December 8th and 9th.
Most gifts are between $1 and $10 (Some gifts are higher proced)
Students in K-8 will get an envelope. You can decide who they will shop for. Write the names of those people on the envelope and place a small amount of money inside the envelope. (Ex. Mom = $5, Brother = $2, Grandpa = $3) Students will learn to budget to get what they want and make hard choices in their shopping.
Preschool – We will send you an envelope to put $10.00 – Just a flat amount. Our School Mom’s will help the child pick out two gifts – one for mom and one for dad. The gifts will come home wrapped and labeled.

Reconciliation – Grades 3-8
One of the many advantages for students attending a Catholic School is the opportunity for many forms of prayer. Reconciliation is a time for all of us to have our sins forgiven. Students will participate in a private confession on December 15.
Non-Catholic kids can also go to talk with the priest at this time by simply identifying that they are not Catholic when they sit down to talk.
Parents – there is the same opportunity for you on that evening – December 15 in the church 5:00-8:00 PM.
