Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update
From the Office of the Principal:
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS;
Are you wondering why the school needs to have fundraising projects? We have these to support the program expenses for the current year. Fundraisers help us manage actual costs that would have to be charged to families in the form of tuition.
There are 3 required fundraisers. These are the Marathon, the Sweepstakes, and the Fish Fry. All families need to work to support these by getting pledges or selling tickets. The largest event is our Starry Night Gala/Auction. Although this one is not required, we sure hope that everyone participates in it. We need lots of help for this, but more importantly, we need the entire New Prague Community to join us in sponsoring, donating, and attending. Similarily, the Golf Tournament in spring and the Pot-o-Gold drawing raise large profits that are absolutely necessary for school operations as budgetary items.
We all need to work together to make each and every one of these events successful. So with that in mind, how can you help? We don’t want all funds to come out of a few pockets. We need many people. This includes extended family, friends, neighbors, and business associates. They need you to tell them about these opportunities and to ask them to participate. Please reach out to people that you have contact with and ask for their assistance and their consideration for our school.
All of us make our school possible. Let’s keep the energy going as we sustain and build our school for this year and many more.
Kim Doyle
Principal
Matthew 22:37 – And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
From the School Advisory Council
We know that families are busy and sometimes it helps to have new ideas to incorporate more of the faith into your family life.
For the Love of Family
This week’s challenge:
Give family members each 10 pieces of yarn, 4 inches in length. Ask them to spend the next week thinking of the many ways God has provided for them. Challenge them to find 10 things they can tie a piece of yarn to (zipper pulls, rearview mirrors…) as a reminder of how God has provided. Encourage them to say a brief prayer of thanks whenever they see the yarn tied to something—whether it’s theirs or another family member’s.

Family Posters are due!
We use the family posters to line our hallways for our upcoming Catholic Schools Week celebration. The students and staff love to look at the pictures of every family.
Please get your poster in.
The poster consists of an 8.5×11 piece of paper that has a family picture glued to it. Students can color the paper. There are three lines to put a couple of good thoughts about SWS.
Preschool families through 8th grade need to complete this project.

School Enrollment
Our enrollment numbers are key to sustaining and growing our school programs. Gaining a few new students each year benefits all families and staff members. Having our kindergarten and preschool classes filled are critical to sustaining our numbers. Enrollment time is coming in January and February for families. We will host several open house/registration events. We have been contacting potential families in a variety of ways. The best resource to recruit additional students, however, is the testimony and the invitation from you, a current school family or supporter. Please reach out to your friends, relatives, and neighbors. Invite them to consider our school in 2023.
Aim Higher Grants
Applications for the Aim Higher Grant opens tomorrow, on November 1st. Families with financial need can apply for a $1000 tuition grant for the 23-24 school year.
The application is open until February 22.

School Accreditation from MNSAA
(Minnesota Nonpublic School Accrediting Association)
School accreditation is a continuous process that helps our school focus on improvement. The school sets a seven-year improvement plan. During the 6th and 7th year of the plan the school does a full comprehensive study and sets future goals. The accreditation process also requires a review by the accreditation association to give an outside view and review to support the school’s future plans. Our association is called MNSAA. You will be hearing more about this during the entire 2023 as we are now in the 6th year of the process. Our visit by MNSAA will take place in spring of 2024. Watch for more about this throughout the year.
