Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update
From the Office of the Principal:
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS;
We are very proud of all of our graduates. This includes the class of 2023 and all those who have graduated from the beginning. In 1908 the first student graduated from the 8th grade. She was in a class of one! The following year there were 5 graduates. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, each graduating class was around 60 students strong. Can you imagine the powerful impact that these graduates had on the community? SWS was a force to be reckoned with in the areas of leadership, academics, sports, and of course, participation in the strong Catholic roots of our faith.
Our graduates have held our mission as a Catholic School together in a strong bond with each other and with great favors to the school. Today, our strong alumni force continues to be a blessing. Alumni have started and are growing a fruitful endowment fund that makes tuition assistance possible for today’s students. Our alumni attend our fundraisers, they make donations, and they contribute to our school at the end of their lives with gifts beyond measure. We are so thankful for the sentiment that our alumni have for the work of the school.
It is also so joyful to see alumni who have kept in touch with each other over many years. Every alum has wonderful stories to share and so many fond memories of their school days. We look forward to our upcoming 145th class reunion, where all can come together in the halls of SWS once again. Please spread the word to young and older alumni and to those who came to school but may have left earlier than when they were in the 8th grade. All are welcome to our reunion on Saturday, October 7. And to those who parented our students, you are all invited to join in too. Thank you for sending your kids to SWS. More to come about this exciting event in the months ahead.
Kim Doyle
Principal
Field Day is this week on Wednesday.
Students should wear regular uniforms and Mass clothing to school in the morning.
After Mass, they can change into their field day clothes. Each student should dress in their team colors. (These are the colors of their family groups)
Field day clothing includes:
1. T-shirt or sweatshirt if cold
2. Sweat pants or long, athletic shorts ( not short shorts)
3. Leggings may only be worn with long oversized t-shirts that cover the entire torso.
4. Athletic shoes and socks
No face paint or hair color
Parent Coffee Gathering
All parents are invited to come to Mass on May 17 and join other parents for coffee in the church basement after Mass. The School Advisory Council is hosting this event for parents. (you can bring little ones if you have them)
This is the school field day, so the school-aged kids will not be joining in the coffee time but will be heading to school to get ready for field day. Parents are welcome to stay for that activity on the playground.
Parent Night Out!
The SWS School Advisory Council would like to invite all school parents/guardians to enjoy a gathering of food, drink, and conversation. Let’s celebrate another successful school year and enjoy the beautiful weekend weather with an adult night out before the kids are home for summer!

Saturday, May 20 — This Weekend!
5:30-8:00 PM
How short should shorts, skorts, and skirts be?
Now that the warmer days are here, we are seeing more bare legs on both boys and girls.
Shorts should have a 6-inch inseam or longer.
Skorts and skirts need to fall slightly above the knee by one to two inches.
Please go through your child’s clothing and make sure it is school appropriate.
On non-uniform days – all of these same length rules apply as well.
Leggings are discouraged this year unless under a skirt/skorts, but this does NOT mean the skirt/skort can be shorter due to wearing the leggings underneath.
Leggings should NOT be worn alone.
New School Logo!
Our school will be transitioning to a new school logo. We are excited to share a logo for our school that shows pride for St. Wenceslaus Catholic School. Watch for a picture of the new logo.
All uniforms and spirit clothing that have the current logo can still be worn for the next school year until we transition fully to our new logo. The same with our office envelopes and paper products that have the logo.
Uniforms
Grades 5-7 parents, Please watch for a letter to come to you today with our new uniform guidelines, which will begin in fall 2023 for the students in grades 6-8.
Grades K-5 – Your uniforms will remain the same. However, for those with girls, we a requiring skirts, skorts, and jumpers to fall slightly above the knee. This requires that you buy these items at Donald’s Uniform Store or another official uniform company. These items from other stores and large retailers run too short.
