Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update

From the Office of the Principal:

Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS:

We are now at the point in the school year when we are into a solid routine. Lessons are being presented, and learning is progressing at record speed. Our staff is focused on academic learning, and the students at all levels are settled in. Teachers are looking deep into the fall NWEA test scores so that they can plan to meet the needs of their class and individual needs that arise. This is a good time for much progress. Please try to keep your kids in school and healthy so that they do not miss out on these weeks. Life at SWS gets kind of crazy during other times of the year, so let’s take advantage of this great time to study. Parent and teacher conferences are coming soon. This will be an excellent time to check in and see how things are going with your child’s academic, social, and spiritual growth.

Kim Doyle, Principal

Psalm 86:11
Teach me your ways, O LORD, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart so that I may honor you.

Handmade Market

We have 60 vendors ready to display and sell their handcrafted items at our school’s Annual Handmade Market on October 28.

Spread the word!  This is a fun day for groups of gals to shop here together. We also serve breakfast treats and lunch for a fee.

Snowplow Showcase
Monday, Oct. 23 from 5:30-7:00 PM

Wow! – Thinking Snow now?  Our city snow plows are ready to go with artwork on the plow blades done by our 6-8 grade students.  Come and see the plows and the artwork at our 2nd annual Snowplow Showcase.  This is a come-and-go event. Halloween decorations and a treat will be available. This event will take place outside in our back parking lot for all to see.

Kids will get a close-up look at the big snowplows. When the snow comes, everyone watches to see which blades pass by your home.

Just a reminder for the preschool families,

Beginning October 2

Lunch cost is $3.00 (includes milk)
Milk cost with a bag lunch is $.50

Lunch Accounts are set up in our system and deducted every time a lunch is ordered. Parents need to front-load an account by sending a lunch check to the office.

Art Room Projects – Donations wanted

Empty Gallon jugs
Magazines
Pinecones
Wood wine corks
Old Christmas cards-new or used
Any acrylic or spray paint
Glitter/sequence/gems/buttons

Spiritwear Fridays
Students may now wear any t-shirt, hoodie, or other item that is clearly labeled as an SWS item on Friday.  They can wear any school-appropriate bottoms.

Remember, for the girls, leggings are not allowed in our school (except under a skirt), and all shorts/skirts/skorts must measure less than 4 inches above the knee with or without leggings.

Boys must also have shorts that are no more than 4 inches above the knee so please watch what kind of athletic shorts they choose to wear on Fridays.

Important
Formal uniforms on Mass days require a polo shirt with a logo. One exception is if the polo is under a girl’s jumper.  Polo that is under a sweatshirt or jacket does not count as these are most often removed due to the heat all year long in the church/school and during Mass.

Dress pants are the cotton twill uniform style pants – not knit.
