Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update
From the Office of the Principal:
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS:
The week has come for our staff to get really busy! All staff members will be returning or joining in on Monday as we begin our workshop time together. We have much to organize and plan so that our students receive an excellent faith education, achieve academic goals, and develop into leaders who are prayerful, reliant on God, and kind to others. We also wish to achieve a unique family-centered community so that each family finds a “home” here at SWS. This obviously takes lots of work, time, and energy.
As our staff gears up for the challenges ahead, we also ask our school parents and supporters to gear up to help us. It takes the entire community to keep our programs positive and to develop ongoing and new ideas. Furthermore, as a Catholic school, we have a very specific mission to provide the best formation of our Catholic and Christian faith to our children. Our staff does this daily, but they cannot do it alone. We invite you to pray for a successful year for our school. Come to volunteer and join our activities. It will be a wonderful year.

Back-to-School Open House
Preschool to grade 8
Tuesday, August 22 – 6:00-7:00 PM – on the playground!
“Welcome and We are so glad you are part of our school!”
Visit with other families and meet the teachers.
This event will take place indoors if weather is not good.
Here is how it works!
1. Come to the playground to find the table with your child’s homeroom teacher.
2. Meet the teacher and get any handouts from the homeroom teacher.
3. Get free tickets for the cookie dough food truck from the office staff table. The entire family will be treated.
Do NOT bring backpacks and school supplies on this night!
Breakfast
K-8 will have breakfast time for 15 minutes each day. (This eliminates snacks from home/snack time in classrooms)
Each student must take three items with one of them being a fruit.
Sample: Banana, Cereal, Milk
Your child can have the FREE breakfast if they take three items.
If they only want one item – then you would need to pay $.50 per item.
So… Three things are free or pay for one/two items. This is the State requirement for us to offer free breakfast and lunch.
Please encourage your kids to take all three items. (Even if they put the item in their bag to take home or eat later)
Lunch
Lunches will be served as usual, but this year there will be no fee for the basic school lunch.
Students can order an extra carton of milk for $.50
Students can order a double entree for an added $1.50
You can put money into your family lunch account to cover any added expenses.
Lunch Applications (Formerly known as the old free/reduced lunch application)
Please, please, please — fill this out if you qualify based on your income. This generates money to pay our Title 1 teacher, money for books, money for grants, and money for many different things. The more people who qualify based on lower income or having many kids in a family – the better for our school, so please apply for this! This is also the only way to get an EBT card that has been given out in the summer for food.
This program is critical to keep many other programs in the school.
See the attached form – fill it out and send it to Kim Doyle in a sealed, confidential envelope.
Due September 15
See if you qualify on this chart below based on your salary and the number in your family.
