Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update
From the Office of the Principal:
Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS:
This is your official welcome to the new school year. As I reflect on the tasks that I need to accomplish to get the school programs up and running again, I am reminded that I am still a learner. As a long-term principal, you would assume that opening the school year would be a simple and routine task that I have done many, many times. Although some things are the same, each new year brings a zest of energy and excitement not only from within me but also with each staff person returning or joining us new.
Our staff is honored to serve God through our Catholic school. This is a ministry to us as we work with the children and families in the community. We learn as we teach, and we teach as we learn. We a committed to the importance of learning the path that God wants each of us on. We lean on God as we model, demonstrate, and teach our students to do the same. “Teach me Your way, O Lord” will be our school prayer for the upcoming year. Adults, as well as children, can understand that there is so much more to learn as we journey together. We are glad that you are a participant with us for the 2023-2024 school year.

Can you or your children help at the Parish Festival?
Sunday, August 13, 2023
Click here to find the perfect volunteer job to help make our festival a huge success.
There are lots of jobs that are great for students
Breakfast
K-8 will have breakfast time for 15 minutes each day. (This eliminates snacks from home/snack time in classrooms)
Each student must take three items with one of them being a fruit.
Sample: Banana, Cereal, Milk
Your child can have the FREE breakfast if they take three items.
If they only want one item – then you would need to pay $.50 per item.
So… Three things free or pay for one item.
Please encourage your kids to take all three items. (Even if they put the item in their bag to take home or eat later)
Lunch
Lunches will be served as usual, but this year there will be no fee for the basic school lunch.
Students can order an extra carton of milk for $.50
Students can order a double lunch for an added $1.50
You can put money into your family lunch account to cover any added expenses.
Lunch Applications (Known as the old free/reduced lunch application)
Please, please, please — fill this out if you qualify based on your income. This generates money to pay our Title 1 teacher, money for books, money for grants, and money for many different things. The more people who qualify based on lower income or having many kids in a family – the better for our school, so please apply for this! This is also the only way to get an EBT card that has been given out in the summer for food.
This used to be a way for financially needy families to get a free lunch – But now it is critical to keep many other programs in the school.
See the attached form – fill it out and send it to Kim Doyle in a sealed, confidential envelope.
Due September 15
See if you qualify on this chart below based on your salary and number in your family.
