Saint Wenceslaus Catholic School Office Update

Dear Parents, Grandparents, and Friends of SWS;
The time has come for school to begin. The entire staff will be back in the building this week making preparations for a new beginning . We are all excited to be back together with each other and with our students.
Please stop by our school on Tuesday from 5:00-7:00 PM for our open house. This is a come and go evening. More details below. And don’t forget to have your picture taken with “Walter”. You might be able to find him in the hallway near the gym.

Back-to-School Open House
Preschool to Grade 8
Tuesday, August 24
In the classrooms.
Come and go as your schedule allows.
Meet teachers, see classrooms, bring student supplies.
- * Each family may choose to wear a mask or not wear a mask to this event. We will respect all. We encourge masks, but do not mandate at this time.
* Do not attend if you or your child are sick with any cold or flu type symptoms.
* Keep a space between you and others.
* Stay in the room for a short time.
* Wash hands and sanitize as you see fit for your family when you leave the school.
Community Prayer for all schools – school staff, kids, and families of the New Prague Area for the 2021-22 school year.
New Prague Mom’s in Prayer group is encouraging all to come out and pray for all students, educators , and their families as we begin this school year.
Prayer will take place and every school within our New Prague School district, both private and public. This takes place on Sunday, August 29 at 1:00 at each school. Come and join us for a quick prayer at 1:00 PM.
We will meet at the doors of the Parish Activity Center.
Park in the back parking lot.
Come up to the sidewalk sourrounding yourself in our beautiful flower gardens.
Prayer will be lead by one of our school parents. It will only last 10-15 minutes.
Reading Assessment Days for the K-5 Students
Kindergarten to Grade 5
Assessments take place on Monday, August 30, and Tuesday, August 31
8:00-3:00 by appointment

Enter through the Main Street doors and go directly to the child’s classroom.
Masks are recommended but not required. Families have the option to choose to wear a mask. The teacher will ask each child to unmask during the quick read so that the teacher can hear the child reading clearly. This lasts only a few minutes.
Office business can take place while you are in the school building – dropping off forms, payments, etc.
Preschool students are welcome to stop in and check out the preschool classrooms – no appointment is necessary from 9:00-12:00 on either day. This is optional but recommended for those little ones who may feel a bit apprehensive.
Students in grades 6-8 – a little one-on-one time with your teacher is always awesome. Stop in without an appointment anytime between 9:00 – 12:00 on either day. Stay for 10-15 minutes .
Club House Registration for K-8 students
Please submit a registration form if you plan to use Club House beginning this year. We especially will need to know this information for the first week of school.
Club House is open from 2:30 -5:30 every school day and most non-school days for 7:00-5:30.

Preschool Extended-care is open each school day. 7:00-9:00 am and 3:00-5:00 PM

Very Important – PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Please fill out the free/reduced lunch application if you finacially meet the qualifications.
Our school literally received thousands of dollars last year because of these forms.
(BTW – all lunch is free this year due to a grant from the USDA. We still need as many of the forms filled out as possible !!!)

All families in K-8 – MUST register each child on this transportation link even if you will not use the bus.

It will ask you to select if you will want transportation or not. It will also ask which school you are enrolled in.
Face coverings will be required on all school busses. Make sure you child has a mask if they will be riding the bus to school.

There are many forms to fill out each year. Here is a link to all of them.
You are encouraged to fill these out online but there are also buttons where you can look at more details and download.
